Soul Foraging
I try being positive
Through the daily prerogative
Of my stomach, my belly
Just yelling and yelling.
For positive nutrition.
And live cells to be in it.
Before food from a package
Evolves into false satisfaction
My eyes wander
And my thoughts ponder
To the never ending question…
What’s this made of again?
Ohhhh…
Just a dabble of high fructose
With a lick of...

Miseducation of the American Nation
The miseducation
Of the American nation
Can be blamed for the frustration
And lack of truthful information
For the world.
Somehow, elsewhere
In countries connected by the number 3
The people sit green with envy
Shaking their heads as to how
We can sit so happily in greed
As the corporations piss in the water we drink
And deny them access to theirs
We don’t care
That truth...
The truth shall set you free
Some days I let myself fall into the zone
of lost control
My soul is crying
because it’s dying
I’m not paying attention
to the evident resurrection
and the painful erection
excited to the truth
It’s hard to the feel
So stiff by the myth
that society creates a cowering acceptance
to the path of fate
Sadly, I create debates
That surround the compound
that is my...

That it could be set up on display

How is it so hard to communicate?
It’s like we stare fate
Directly in the face
With a smirk dancing across our lips
As our fingers are spinning the dials of time
The minutes are never ending
We say “Well, Times a continuum,
There’s no real end to it.”
“What needs to be done,
Yeah…I got that in a little bit.”
But why sacrifice
and wait for the...

powerful words
“Language helps create our sense of reality by giving meaning to events. The words we use to label an event determine to a great extent how we respond to it.” - Stephen E. Lucas
I will always be a firm believer in the fact that words have power. Define our life, our mentality, our attitude so much more than we realize.
Imagine how you feel when you are angry and spewing negative...

The travel bug bit me
After being away from home for so long, I feel that I could travel anywhere. I met so many people traveling from so many different countries during my trip. Some were traveling alone, some were in pairs, but most were traveling just for the love of traveling. It’s exciting being able to experience a different culture and truly feel out of your element. Traveling from country to...

a happy list!
I was thinking about how people make lists. Usually these lists are to-do lists, or grocery lists, lists of things to do before you die…blah blah blah. Well I want to make a list of happy things and funny things! I usually write when something is buggin and I need to sort out my thoughts. Currently though, I feel on top of the world and it seems only fitting that I should document this. So...
traveling thoughts...or thoughts on traveling :)
I keep thinking back to the moment when I decided that I needed to go. Needed to travel. To learn about myself, other cultures, people, life happiness and all the in betweens. I’m still learning things here, and realizing again and again why I came. It’s not like there is a single answer to that question. Maybe it’s from all the messages from movies, books, and American society that has driven...

travels
I love whitewater rafting! It was so beautiful going down this pristine river, in the middle of the rainforest! We rafted for about 5 hours with Class III and IV rapids. There were easy parts of the river too where we could hop out of and just float around. The water was so warm. Saw a basilisk lizard, iguanas, fer de lance snake and some other tropical birds. Basilisk lizards are called Jesus...

confusion at my host house
So with my limited Spanish and a hungover moment, my host mom thinks I’m strange…ha.
Thursday night is our night to go out and dance at night fever! I have class at 8 in the morning and woke up a little bit drunk…I probably couldn’t have understood someone speaking to me in English that morning, let alone Spanish. So I’m not sure but this is probably how my...
volcan poas.
Hola! still getting more and more comfortable here. Loving my house, my host mom, the delicious food and all the beautiful green plants and flowers I get to see daily! I’m quitting facebook…it’s making me homesick. Soo…I’ll keep this up so it posts to my page but I’m swearing it off :)

more adventuring!
Hola! It’s been a few days here and I’m already feeling so much more comfortable. The people are so friendly and helpful. Even though they’re aware that you don’t know that much Spanish, they truly want to help you learn.
Sunday, I toured a small coffee farm and learned the production of coffee from start to finish. Costa Rica has some of the best coffee in the world. I have a cup with every...

un dia!
Crazy to think I’ve been planning this trip for months and I’m finally here! Safe and sound! So after missing my first flight…I made arrangements and still made my last flight to Costa Rica. Don’t ask how I missed it…It was definitely a Kristen like mistake :) I found people on my flight that were also in the USAC program so it wasn’t so intimidating getting...
